Tonight I say we go tubing down a long lazy river. The water is cool enough to bring about chill bumps, but the sun is so hot that the brief shiver is welcomed. There are no rapids to fret with, just a steady easy current to move us along. Children’s laughter fills the air as moms and dads organize their broods. We smile and touch hands as we float. The sky is brilliant and the contrast between the blue above and the green of land and hill is intense and makes us so grateful to be apart of life and the moment at hand. We pull to the bank at dinner time (lunch in yankee lingo) and are served grilled chicken, veggies, and fresh cobbler with heavy cream. Back to the river we head with full bellies. It’s such a gentle journey that we doze lightly along the way. When we bid the water goodbye at day’s end, we stand for several minutes soaking in all we see so not to let it slip from our memories. That night we dream again of the day and wake with smiles all around.
