Tonight we are North Pole bound. We’ve been invited to help that jolly old man with his important December work. You and I have flown many times in our dreams, and tonight we meet in Vinton skies to join hands. We rocket through the twinkling night, crossing over landscapes of leafless browns and grays that that give way to evergreen and blankets of white. Ahead we see an isle of light, and smell the sweet aroma of wood burning in the hearths of elf and Santa alike. Setting down gently in Santa’s yard, we find ourselves trudging in knee deep snow to St. Nick’s door. Before we raise hand to knock, the door swings open to welcoming smiles and hearty laughs. Mugs of rich hot chocolate are handed out as Santa lets us know what we can do to help. As this is a magic world, we are able to accomplish all required; building and wrapping toys, creating beautiful red and gold images on cards and paper, and candy making for every taste in sweet things. These are labors of love and our hearts are warmed no matter the assigned task. When all is done, Santa thanks us for our efforts, and invites us once more for the adventure of a lifetime—this Christmas Eve we will join him in sleigh to deliver the precious cargo. We fly home and curl up under layers of blankets and are all smiles as we hold tight and talk of the magical Eve to come.
