Tonight we are in a resort on the side of a mountain in British Columbia. From our vantage point, which over looks a snow covered plain, we can see herds of deer, elk, and buffalo. The resort’s restaurant boasts a buffet of fire roasted beef, pork, and fowl. There are potatoes of every type: baked, fried, mashed. There are salads, grilled asparagus, green beans, and squash. Desserts fill the tables at the end of the buffet. All manner of cake, pie, strudel, and cookie tempt even those who say they don’t care for sweets. When we’ve finished are fabulous meal, we join other couples in the great hall and dance away the calories until the wee hours. When finally we enter our room and ready for bed, we land as tired lumps on top of a down comforter so thick it could serve as a mattress. We sleep in each other’s arms until the sun’s rays light the room the next morning.
